We have been breaking our backs and taking any little extra time we have to work on our basement. I'm not sure what the homeowner was thinking with this room but we think he had some idea of doing a man cave when it started. The completed project was more like a creepy, hodge podge, prickly room. It seems like everything takes 10 times longer now that we have Ruby. It is the craziest thing to get used to. The first scraping of the ceiling I did was during the superbowl. That tells you how long this has taken. In fact, for our Anniversary we had Ruby sleep at her aunt's house and we made a night of ripping down the walls and demo-ing the room. We debated celebrating our anniversary this way for several days and finally decided that as long as we are together, nothing else matters. It was actually one of the funnest times we have had together in a while. We goofed off and played loud nostalgic music on shuffle, which brought back so many memories. Here are some of our good times:

Here is the final product. We just finished a few days ago. This only took 3.5 months to do one room! Ruby is one happy kid. She has been asking and asking about her castle tent and where it was. We had to stuff everything from the two rooms into one and some things had to go including taking down the castle tent. That's all she talked about the day the carpet got installed and how mommy was going to come home and clean up the mess and put up her castle tent. She has been going nuts in there -

We have been having so much fun with Ruby these past several months. With winter coming to an end and the outdoors becoming a part of our everyday lives, each day is an adventure! Is it bad that I like having seasons because then I have an excuse to dress Ruby in a whole new awaiting wardrobe? (thanks Laura for the hand me downs that are so cute) I never thought I'd be like this, but I love dressing Ruby up every day. Not so much the painful process of getting her dressed, but picking out the outfits and doing her hair. She has recently taken to the whole going limp and slipping to the ground routine. Here are some of Ruby's creations -

Ruby also had her first nightmare. She was sleeping with me that night for some strange reason and she woke up freaking out and crying. I had to calm her down and hold her in my arms as a mother would. When we laid back down, she wouldn't put her feet down on the bed. She had them curled up toward me and I rest them on my side. She kept sitting up and looking at the foot of the bed and then laying down. After about 1/2 hour of this I had had enough and told her softly that we were going back in her bed. She whimpered "and da fishies won't bite my feet?". How sad! From what I can gather from her there were fishies biting her feet and hitting her head! It was the cutest/saddest thing I have ever heard. When she woke up the next morning she told me more about her dream. She has talked about it ever since.

  3. Me too- LOVE those walls. How the heck did you think of doing something like that??? Did you paint it or did you have a sticker-thingy? Also- Ruby is to DIE for.
